William ALLSOP is Technical Director for Maritime Structures at HR Wallingford, and Visiting Professor at University of Southampton. He has 40+ year experience of testing and analysis of breakwaters (rubble mound, vertical and composite), sea walls, revetments, piers / jetties and coastal / shoreline structures, in sand and cohesive sediment transport, performance of river structures, outfalls and oil booms, and on the performance and certification of temporary flood protection devices.  He has served on ICE Maritime Board, various PIANC expert working groups, BSI, ISO and ICE working groups, served on the IC Breakwaters Conference committee since 1986, and chaired it 1996 - 2014.
